BIOGRAPHY

Pampaian was born Effie May Hale in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on 16 May 1910. At a young age, she moved to the United States. She graduated from Walla Walla University in Washington in 1939, and later received a honorary degree in history in 2014, 75 years upon her graduation.

Pampaian passed away in College Place, Washington, USA, on 3 December 2020, at the age of 110. She was survived by her only daughter, Sheryl Learned, a grandchild and 3 great-grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

At the time of death, she was the second-oldest (known) living person in the U.S. state of Washington, behind Ruth Apilado.
