Angelina Marcon was born in Carbonera, Veneto, Italy on 10 December 1911, as the youngest of 17 children of Rosa and Pietro Marcon. In her youth, she took on the responsibility of cooking for her large family, eventually becoming an expert in traditional Venetian recipes. In 1938, she married Angelo Lorenzon, a tenor, organist and chorister at the municipal theater of Treviso. The couple had four children (including Lidia, Elda and Loris), though one sadly passed away in infancy. After 68 years of marriage, Angelo passed away in 2006.
At the age of 109, she survived COVID-19, becoming one of the oldest known survivors of the virus. Despite her advanced age, she remained active and engaged with her community, even mastering the use of smartphones in her later years. At the age of 111, she had 11 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
Marcon passed away in San Biagio di Callalta, Treviso, Veneto, Italy, on 20 January 2023, at the age of 111 years, 41 days.
On 15 December 2022, following the passing of 111-year-old Lucia Soliman, she became the oldest living person in Veneto. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Severina Chiurato.
Marcon’s age was verified by Paolo Scarabaggio and validated by the ESO on 31 January 2022.
