Aki Hakii (Japanese: 波木井アキ) is a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Aki Hakii (波木井アキ) was born in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, on 9 September 1914, as the eldest of six siblings. She enjoyed studying and, after graduating from elementary school, advanced to Tsurumi Girls High School, where she was an excellent student and was said to have consistently ranked first or second in her class.

After graduating from high school, she helped at her family’s sake brewery and married in her early 20s. She was blessed with four children, one son and three daughters. Skillful with her hands, she enjoyed both Western sewing and traditional Japanese dressmaking as hobbies. She made matching dresses for her younger sisters, who were much younger than she was, and also made her husband’s suits.

Quiet and calm by nature, she was not one to seek leadership roles actively. Rather, she was respected and relied upon by those around her. She served as a PTA officer for her children, later became the head of the local senior citizens club and neighborhood association, and worked for many years as a community welfare commissioner, contributing extensively to her community and earning the trust of many people. In 1989, at the age of 74, her contributions to the community were recognized, and she received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.

She loved wearing kimono, and until the age of 92, when she fractured her left shoulder, she always wore them for trips and special gatherings such as meals.

At the age of 99, she began living with her third daughter, and as of age 111, she continues to live at home. With the assistance of visiting care staff, she still enjoys taking baths in her bathtub.

Until around the age of 109, she diligently kept a diary and household account book and maintained the habit of thoroughly reading the newspaper with the help of a magnifying glass. According to her family, she was not particularly physically strong in her younger years, and even in middle age, they sometimes saw her experience lightheadedness.

From the end of 2023, her physical condition declined significantly for about a year. However, by August 2025, she had regained her strength and now spends her days peacefully at home, talking about old times and singing with visiting care staff and family members.
