BIOGRAPHY

Vicie George was born on 24 November 1909 in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana to parents Thomas and Augusta “Gussie” Coleman. Growing up, she was passionate about learning, and exceled in geography and history while attending school. Additionally, she enjoyed playing baseball.

She married Grover George in February 1925, and the couple would go on to have seven children. They would remain married for 64 years until Grover’s death in 1989. She joined the Beech Grove Baptist Church in 1936, and remained a member for over 80 years until her death. She attributed her longevity to praying and “trusting in God”.

Vicie George died in Decatur, Georgia, USA, on 12 January 2020, at the age of 110 years, 49 days.
