BIOGRAPHY

Takio Hamatani was born in Japan on 1 November 1902.

Takio Hamatani passed away in Sakai, Fukui Prefecture, Japan, on 16 July 2014, at the age of 111.

RECOGNITION

At the age of 100, she was presented with a certificate and commemorative gift from the Prime Minister of Japan to celebrate her birthday, and was listed in Fukui Shinbun as one of the 100 centenarians in Fukui Prefecture.

On 17 August 2012, following the death of 110-year-old Hatsue Sabi of Echizen, she became the oldest living person in Fukui Prefecture, at the age of 109,

In March 2014, she surpassed the final age of Matsui Kobayashi (1899–2010), becoming the oldest person ever in Fukui Prefecture.

Upon her death, Tsuhi Hori became the oldest living person in Fukui Prefecture. Hori eventually surpassed Hamatani’s final age, becoming the Prefecture’s new oldest person ever.
