Marie Rosa, Canada’s Oldest Resident, Turns 111

by Stefan Maglov | Sep 18, 2026 | Birthday Reports, News

Marie Rosa, a resident of Toronto, Ontario, and Canada’s oldest known resident, celebrated her 111th birthday on 17 September, as reported by the Toronto Star.

Marie Rosa was born Marie Del Brocco in Toronto, on 17 September 1915. She married her husband, Gordon, in 1952 after unexpectedly running into him on a Toronto streetcar following World War II. Two years later, in 1954, they welcomed their daughter, Cathie. Cathie was Rosa’s only child, but by the time Rosa reached 110, her family had grown to include two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. After Cathie’s birth, Rosa devoted much of her time to the joys and responsibilities of motherhood.

On 2 April 2026, following the passing of 110-year-old Burdett Sisler, she became the nation’s oldest known resident.

LongeviQuest extends warm congratulations to Marie Rosa on her 111th birthday.
