Lucio Chiquito Caicedo, the oldest known living man in Colombia, is celebrating her 110th birthday today in Medellín.

Lucio Chiquito Caicedo was born on 22 May 1916 in Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. From an early age, he showed strong intellectual discipline and an aptitude for the sciences. After completing his studies at Colegio Santa Librada in Cali, he earned a scholarship to study civil engineering at the National University of Colombia in Medellín, graduating in 1941. He later continued his education at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, specializing in hydraulics during World War II, and earned a master’s degree in 1947.

Upon returning to Colombia, he helped found several influential institutions, including Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), Integral S.A., Sedic S.A., Camacol, and the School of Engineering of Antioquia, contributing significantly to the development of infrastructure, public services, and engineering education in the region.

In October 1948, he married Ofelia Ramirez Jaramillo, and they had six children.
