Izabel Rosa Pereira, the oldest living person in Brazil and the fourth-oldest in the world, passed away from cardiac failure today at 7:00 a.m. local time in Caputira, Minas Gerais, at the age of 114 years and 346 days.

Izabel Rosa Pereira was born on 13 October 1910, on her uncle Antônio Inácio’s farm in Córrego dos Pedrosos, Caputira, Minas Gerais, Brazil. She was the daughter of Manoel Pinto Moreira and Francisca Leocádia Moreira, and the fourth of five siblings.

She later married Antônio José Pereira, a widower with three children. Together, they raised twelve children of their own. Izabel spent her entire life in Caputira, where the family eventually acquired their own land, which they continue to occupy today. Antônio passed away on 3 April 2001, leaving Izabel widowed.

On 16 August 2025, she was visited by LongeviQuest’s Brazil researcher, Iara Souza, and presented with a custom-designed trophy, in recognition of her status as the oldest living person in Brazil.

At the time of her passing, she was the fourth-oldest living person in the world, after Ethel Caterham (UK), Marie-Rose Tessier (France), and Naomi Whitehead (USA).

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Izabel Rosa Pereira during this difficult time.
