Hide Endō (遠藤ひで), the oldest living person in Shizuoka, Japan, passed away in Shizuoka City on 1 September, at the age of 112 years, 231 days. Her passing was first reported by Shizuoka Daiichi Television.

Hide Endō was born on 13 January 1913. At some point, she moved into a nursing home for the elderly in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City.

At the age of 110, she could still move around in her wheelchair unassisted and reportedly maintained a hearty appetite, especially for sweet treats like tea and coffee with sugar. According to her, the key to longevity was not being picky about food, eating well, and reading the newspaper every morning.

Following the passing of Masu Usui (age 114) of Oyama Town on 21 May 2025, Endō became the oldest living person in Shizuoka Prefecture.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Hide Endō during this difficult time.
