Ted Price, a resident of Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada, is celebrating his 110th birthday today, according to South Muskoka Doppler.
Ted Price was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 14 August 1916, to parents Joseph Leslie Price (1888–1967) and Ida Blanche Edmonds (1888–1978). His older sister, Blanche Isabel Moore (1912–2013), died at the age of 100. His father was a property developer in the region.
On 9 September 1939, he married Doris Kathryn “D” Sweeney (1916–2006) in Etobicoke, Ontario (now part of Toronto). The couple had four children: Wendy, Dianne, Kenneth, and Beverley. Doris passed away in Bracebridge, Ontario, on 25 April 2006, at the age of 89. Price spent his entire life in Toronto, where he attended Malvern Collegiate Institute and reportedly studied at business school before developing an interest in aviation. He began flying at Barker’s Field in Toronto in 1940 and, the following year, became a Link Trainer instructor with the Royal Canadian Air Force.
In 1942, he began training navigators and bombardiers on the Avro Anson aircraft at No. 1 Air Observer School, part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. In September 1945, following the end of the Second World War, Price received an honourable discharge. He flew less frequently after the war and eventually joined the family business. However, he returned to flying in 1968. He continued to fly his privately owned aircraft until 2010, at the age of 94, and even at the age of 100, he continued to fly with his son, Ken.
On 2 April 2026, following the passing of 110-year-old Burdett Sisler, he became the oldest living man in Canada. However, in July, CityNews Montreal reported on Joseph Mery Arthur, a Montreal resident who was reportedly born on 7 July 1916, potentially making him older than Price. However, Arthur’s age has not yet been validated.
