Anne Zando, a resident of Somerset, New Jersey, USA, passed away on 25 July, one day before her 111th birthday. Her passing was reported by the Gleason Funeral Home (Somerset).
Anne Zando was born in Switzerland on 26 July 1914. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was 15, just as the Great Depression was beginning. Later, she returned to Europe but fled again at the start of World War II, eventually making her way back to the United States. In the USA, she worked in embroidery in Hudson County, as a waitress at Swiss Chalet in Rochelle Park, and held various other jobs.
At the time of her passing, she was the oldest known living person born in Switzerland.
