Enid Thomas, the second-oldest known resident of Jamaica, celebrated her 110th birthday in May Pen, Clarendon Parish, on 11 September.
Enid Delcina Martin Thomas was born in Chapelton, Clarendon Parish, on 11 September 1916. She moved to May Pen in the late 1930s. She had 11 children, three of whom had passed away by the time she turned 110. A devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in May Pen, she was actively involved in several ministries and was also a member of the Tabernacle Choir.
She currently has 42 grandchildren, 104 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, seven great-great-great-grandchildren, and five great-great-great-great-grandchildren, spanning seven generations in total, including herself.
At the moment, she is the second-oldest known resident of Jamaica, after Louise Small, born on 24 May 1916 (age not validated). Besides Small, four Jamaican emigrants are also older: Merah Smith, 113, of the UK; Mabel Dunbar, 112, and Gwen Hutchinson, 111, both of the US; and Isnet May Oldfield, 110, of Canada.
