Rosa Lorenzina Fausti, a resident of Rapallo, Liguria, Italy, is celebrating her 110th birthday today.

Rosa Lorenzina Fausti was born in Bargagli, Liguria, Italy, on 3 February 1916. In her youth, she lived in the hamlet of Viganego, where, as a young girl, she helped her parents—sharecroppers for the parish priest—tend the fields. She served as an altar server, cleaned the church, and even rang the bells. At the age of 21, she moved to Genoa to work as a kitchen assistant at the Chiossone Institute, later finding employment as a waitress for several families.

At 27, she married Giovanni, and together they had two daughters, Caterina and Anna. Her lifelong passions were cooking and knitting, activities she continued to enjoy even in her centenarian years. According to her family, the greatest joy of her life came in 2016, when, on the occasion of her 100th birthday, she traveled to Rome and had an unexpected encounter with Pope Francis during a public audience.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Rosa Lorenzina Fausti during this difficult time.
