Þórhildur [Thorhildur] Magnúsdóttir, the oldest living person in Iceland, passed away in Reykjavík on 6 December, at the age of 107 years, 349 days, according to Visir.

Magnúsdóttir was born on the farm Miðhús in Biskupstungur in the municipality of Bláskógabyggð, on 22 December 1917. She moved to Reykjavík as a child in 1923. She married Gústaf Adolf Lárusson, a carpenter, and together they had six daughters. She lived at the same address in Reykjavík from 1947 until relocating to a nursing home in the spring of 2020. Her husband passed away in 2013.

On 18 July 2022, following the passing of 104-year-old Ásta Sigurrós Sigmundsdóttir, she became the nation’s oldest living resident.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Thorhildur Magnúsdóttir during this difficult time.
