Rosa Quaresma Furtado was born in Ribeirinha (Lajes do Pico), Azores, Portugal, on 3 December 1915.
She is currently the oldest known living person born in the Azores, an autonomous region of Portugal. She is also the third documented supercentenarian from the Azores; the other two—Julia Rose (1902–2012) and Alice Sanders (1897–2007)—also passed away in the United States.
