Lucienne Tranchant, a resident of the commune of L’Aiguillon-la-Presqu’île in the Vendée department in western France, passed away on 7 November, at the age of 111 years, 28 days.
Tranchant was born in Châtellerault, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, on 10 October 1914. She married at the age of 20, and her daughter Nicole was born from the union. Throughout the Second World War, she continued working. The couple divorced when she was 40, after which Lucienne took over the management of the company, which had ten employees.
After retiring, she bought a small plot of land just a few hundred meters from the beach in L’Aiguillon-la-Presqu’île. She continued doing aquagym until the age of 97, walked regularly until she was 100, and danced until she was 105.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Lucienne Tranchant during this difficult time.
