Lois Inez Boston, a resident of Hugoton, Kansas, USA, on 7 August, at the age of 112 years, 89 days. Her death was announced in an obituary on Legacy.com.
Boston was born as Lois Inez Wallin in Oklahoma on 10 May 1913, to Benjamin and Mary Lou Wallin. She was the ninth of twelve children—six girls and six boys. When Lois was six years old, the family moved to Texas. She grew up on a farm and remained there until she graduated from high school.
Afterward, she moved to Goodwell, Oklahoma, to attend Panhandle A&M College (now known as Oklahoma Panhandle State University), where she met Charley Boston. Both graduated from college, and on 24 December 1936, Lois married Charley. They had three daughters: Gay, Charlene, and Victoria. The couple settled in Guymon, where Charley began a plumbing business. Later, he expanded into the furniture trade while continuing to operate the plumbing company.
She worked as a teacher in the towns of May, Felt, and Guymon, while also co-owning the Boston Furniture store in Guymon.
On 19 April 2022, following the death of 112-year-old Ethel Bowens, she became the oldest known living person in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. In early 2024, she moved to Kansas, where she held the title of oldest known living person in the state until her death on 7 August 2025.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Lois Boston during this difficult time.
