Isabel Barletta, a resident of Flores, Buenos Aires, Argentina, passed away on 12 May, at the age of 113 years, 242 days.

Isabel Barletta was born in a house on Primera Junta Street in Flores, Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 12 September 1911. The family later moved to a house her father and brothers had built on José Martí Street. Her father was an Italian immigrant. She attended elementary school on Francisco Bilbao Street. Later, she studied drawing, painting and Art History at the Fernando Fader school.

Her younger sister, Deolinda, was alive in January 2020, aged 104. When asked about the secret of her longevity, she replied: “There is only one and it is to respect the other. Because they are just like me, just like everyone else. God made them all equal…”

At the time of her passing, she was the third-oldest documented person ever to live in Argentina, after Casilda Ramona Benegas and Evangelista Luisa López.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Isabel Barletta during this difficult time.
