Josino Levino Ferreira, the world’s second-oldest living man, celebrated his 112th birthday on 3 April in Coronel Ezequiel, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.
Josino Levino Ferreira was born in the state of Paraíba, in proximity to Lagôa do Remigio, within the municipality of Areia, on 3 April 1913. He married Sebastiana Ana da Conceição (1 May 1914 – 9 May 2001) in 1941, and the couple had six children. The couple moved to Coronel Ezequiel, Rio Grande do Norte following their marriage, and remained together for nearly 60 years until Sebastiana Ana’s death in 2001 at the age of 87.
Josino built his life on hard work in the fields. He rose before sunrise each day to care for the land, the animals, and his family. His simple lifestyle, centered around a healthy diet and free from excess, is considered by his family to be the key to his longevity.
In December 2024, he was officially recognized by LongeviQuest as Brazil’s second-oldest oldest living man.
As of his 112th birthday in April 2025, Josino had three living children: Luiz Levino (82), Maria Levino (79), and Josefa Levino (78). He also had 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Even at 112, Josino continues to enjoy lively conversations, reminiscing about the past, watching television, and going for walks—always with the loving support of his family.
At the moment, he is the world’s second-oldest living man whose age is documented and validated, only after his fellow countryman João Marinho Neto from the state of Ceará.
We would like to wish Josino Levino Ferreira a very happy birthday! We hope his special day was filled with joy, laughter, and precious moments spent with his loved ones. We extend our sincere thanks to Josino’s family for their valuable cooperation during the age validation process and for their continued correspondence with us. We also wish to thank the Prefeitura de Coronel Ezequiel for providing photos of the event.
