Luciano Rodríguez González, the oldest (known) living man in Uruguay, passed away in Vichadero (Rivera Department) on 8 February, at the age of 107 years, 46 days, according to Radio Vichadero.
Rodríguez González was born near Vichadero, Rivera Department, Uruguay, on 24 December 1917. He attended school until completing the first year of primary education. He lost his father at a very young age, forcing him to abandon his studies and dedicate himself to work. Until the age of 22, he worked in the forest, cutting and processing wood. One day, he transitioned to construction, a profession he remained committed to until the age of 80. In his free time, he also produced his own wine.
He married his wife Blanca in Zanja Honda Town, and the couple had two daughters, Egle and Sonia. At the age of 105, he remained highly independent, managing his daily activities without assistance.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Luciano Rodríguez during this difficult time.
