Marie-Anne Le Pendu, also known as Soeur (Sister) Anne, the oldest living nun in France, passed away in Plumelin on 15 December, at the age of 109 years, 38 days.

Sister Anne was born on 7 November 1915, in Berric, in the Morbihan Department of Brittany, into a farming family. She was the youngest of eleven children, including four daughters.

At the age of 15, she joined the juniorate of Kermaria and professed her faith in 1935. Thus began a lifelong dedication to serving children. As a nursery and preparatory class instructor, Sister Anne worked in various locations, including Plumelec, Vannes, Cintré (Ille-et-Vilaine), Melrand, and Locminé, until 1957. During this time, she also pursued her training as a teacher.

Her journey continued in Guidel and later in Inguiniel. In 1959, she was appointed director of the Notre-Dame-de-Joie school in Pontivy, where she served with distinction until her retirement in 1979. Following her retirement, Sister Anne remained in Pontivy for five years before returning to Kermaria in 1984. In 2007, she moved to the Sainte-Famille residential care facility for the elderly, where she resided until her passing.

One of her sisters passed away in 2015, at the age of 105.
