We are saddened to report the passing of Ms. Elizabeth Francis, Oldest American, at the age of 115. Ms. Francis was born in 1909 in Louisiana and lived most of her life in Houston, Texas. Until her death, she lived with her 95-year-old daughter Ms. Dorothy Williams in their Houston home. Her primary caregiver was her granddaughter Ms. Ethel Harrison. Ms. Elizabeth was a Houstonian icon and a cherished member of the community.
Ms. Francis was the third-oldest person in the world at the time of her passing. Her validated age made her the 54th oldest person to ever live, and the 21st oldest American ever.
Spoken in April 2023, Ms. Francis’s choice of life advice was, “If the Good Lord gave it to you, use it. Speak your mind, don’t hold your tongue.”
