Marie-Louise Jaouen of Quimper, one of the oldest residents of France’s region of Brittany, celebrated her 110th birthday on September 17, 2024. Her birthday was first reported by France Bleu.

The elderly woman celebrated her birthday in Quimper, surrounded by her three children, several of her 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Jaouen lived independently until the age of 106, when a serious fall led her to move into a nursing home. Her impressive longevity reportedly isn’t due to genetics. Her diet, which included butter, potatoes, soup, and oysters every Sunday, doesn’t resemble the Mediterranean diet often praised for its health benefits. According to her daughter, it was the crosswords that kept her mind sharp, and before she moved into the nursing home, she was still doing them.

Despite her age, she still enjoys her favorite pastimes. “What she loves most is watching football on TV,” shares the manager of the residence.

LongeviQuest sends our warmest greetings for Marie-Louise Jaouen’s 110th birthday!
