Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture — The oldest living man in Japan, Tomisaburō Wakui, passed away on July 5th, at the age of 110 years, 220 days. His passing was confirmed by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW).

Tomisaburō Wakui was born in Japan on 28 November 1913. Reportedly, in his youth, he worked as a tuna seller at Tsukiji Uogashi in Tokyo, and tuna remained his favorite food even in his old age. In April 2024, the MHLW announced him as the new oldest living man in Japan, succeeding Gisaburō Sonobe, who passed away on March 31.
