Dorothy Reed, age 110, is now a validated American supercentenarian. She is currently the oldest known living person in the U.S. state of Washington. She was also proclaimed as Wenatchee’s oldest resident in April 2023.
Dorothy Reed was born in Fried, a small township near Jamestown, North Dakota, on 9 June 1913. She was a sister, a wife, and a mother to 2 children.
Raised on a ranch, Reed mastered cow herding, milking, grain shocking, animal care, and gardening. During the Great Depression, she moved to Wenatchee, finding work in the fruit industry.
As a centenarian, she enjoys baking, gardening, quilting for charity, and cheering for the Mariners. She treasures a childhood broad jump prize and her long membership at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
At the age of 110, she attributed her longevity to her high sugar intake. She enjoys eating cookies, ice cream, and pecan pie.
