LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Mabel Hyde of the United States at age 111. She was born in Gallipolis, Gallia County, Ohio, United States on 23 April 1864. In her youth, she lived in Illinois and Kansas. Hyde was a wife and a mother to 3 sons. Their family was among the first non-Native American settlers of the Oklahoma Territory upon its opening in 1889.
When Hyde was older, she moved to Fresno, California. She still enjoyed salmon fishing in the Sacramento River at the age of 99. And as a centenarian, she was a big fan of the San Francisco Giants baseball team. Hyde may have become California’s oldest resident following the death of 111-year-old Ettie Crist on 10 January 1974.
Hyde died in Fresno, Fresno County, California, United States on 13 August 1975 at the age of 111 years, 112 days. At the time of death, Hyde was the second-oldest known person in the United States and the third-oldest known in the world, after Mary Bittlebrun and Niwa Kawamoto of Japan.
LongeviQuest congratulates Mabel Hyde’s family on her posthumous recognition.
