Emily Clarke (1902-2013): Barbados’ First Female Supercentenarian Validated At 110

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Emily Clarke at 110 years old. She was the first female supercentenarian from the island country of Barbados. At the time of her death, it was believed that she was the oldest living person in the country.

She was born as Emily McClean on 17 November 1902 in Foster Hall, Saint John, Barbados.

At some point in her life, she got married and had four daughters. She moved from place to place. Starting from the Carrington Village to Grazettes in Saint Michael, to England with her daughter, and finally to the United States. Eventually, she returned to Barbados.

When she was 110 years old, she already had 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. At the time, she was the first known female supercentenarian and the oldest known living person in Barbados.

Emily Clarke passed away on 1 June 2013 in Rock Hall, Saint Peter, Barbados, at the age of 110 years and 257 days.
