Yoshi Kitada (Japanese: 北田 ヨシ) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest. She was the oldest person in Gunma Prefecture.

Biography

Yoshi Kitada was born in Munedaka-cho, Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, Japan, on 27 March 1913. At some point in her life, she got married and had three children. While raising children, she continued her sericulture business for a long time and continued to engage in farming, growing rice and vegetables, until she was around 90 years old.

She broke her leg around the age of 97 and since then she has started receiving care services. The staff at the nursing home where she lived praised her bright personality and richness of emotional expression.
At the age of 110, she was still able to use a spoon to serve porridge and jelly to her mouth while eating. Her favorite foods were egg bolo and amazake.

Yoshi Kitada passed away on February 7, 2024, due to natural causes in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, at the age of 110 years and 317 years.

According to her son, even in her old age, she was a steady person who tried to do things for herself without relying on others.

Recognition

On 14 June 2023, following the death of 110-year-old Sui Naito, she became the oldest living person in Gunma Prefecture.

On 15 September 2023, the mayor of Takasaki City visited her nursing home and presented her with a congratulatory letter and a bouquet of flowers to celebrate her status as the oldest person in the prefecture and her longevity.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yumi Yamamoto, Ryohei Asano, and Jack Steer, and validated by LongeviQuest on 1 February 2024.
