When asked about the secret of her longevity, she said it’s to “not rush things, not to meet death, to let things happen, not anticipate the facts or sufferings before bad things happen, and when they happen to have intelligence, to trespass them and know how to overcome them.” Her favorite food was mango.
Placida Maria do Livramento died in Barras, Piauí, Brazil, on 24 October 2009, at the age of 114 years, 21 days.
Her age was verified by Stefan Maglov, and validated by the LAS in 2020.
