Boar was born as Olive Evelyn Macro in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, on 29 September 1904. She was one of eight children born to her parents, William and Alice, who both lived to be nonagenarians. Her sister, Daisy Wingate, died in 2019 at 103 years old.
In 1932, Boar married her husband, Claude. The couple had two sons, Colin and Robin, in 1936 and 1945. They bought their first house in Ipswich for £300. Boar worked as a seamstress.
Boar was widowed in 1979 after her husband died aged 77. She had never owned an automatic washing machine nor had central heating, and had never left the U. K., never even owning a passport. Until 2013, she lived independently before relocating to a care home in nearby Felixstowe.
Boar died on 28 August 2018 at the age of 113 years, 333 days. She was survived by her two sons, as well as five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Boar’s age was verified by Dr. Andrew Holmes and was validated by the GRG on 29 September 2016, her 112th birthday.
Following the 11 May 2018 death of Bessie Camm, 113, Boar became the United Kingdom’s oldest resident. One week prior to her death, she surpassed Camm’s age to enter the top 10 oldest people to reside in the U. K.
Upon Boar’s death, the country’s oldest living person became 111-year-old Grace Jones (1906 – 2019).
