BIOGRAPHY

Kinase was born in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, on 30 October 1906. Her husband died during World War II. As a supercentenarian, she enjoyed watching sumo wrestling on the television; she was, by this time, a great-great-grandmother.

Kinase became the oldest living person aged 111, following the 22 July 2018 death of Chiyo Miyako, the world’s oldest person. In October 2019, she became the fifth Kanagawa resident to reach the age of 113. She died on 26 January 2020 at the age of 113 years, 88 days, with her successor as Kanagawa’s oldest living person being then-110-year-old Mitsu Katsuta.
