Mitsuko Hayashi (Japanese: 林ミツ子) is a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.
Mitsuko Hayashi was born in Kurogawa Village (now part of Asakura City), Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, on 4 September 1911. She was the eldest of six siblings. When she was in elementary school, she had a passion for studying and excelled as a student. She married her childhood friend in her early twenties and gave birth to her first daughter at the age of 27. In total, she had five children. Her husband, who was a police officer, was frequently relocated to different parts of Fukuoka Prefecture, leading to her moving to various areas until his retirement.
Hayashi possessed exceptional skills in knitting and dressmaking, crafting her own attire as well as outfits for her children by hand. Even as she surpassed 100 years of age, she found joy in creating dolls and engaging in various other handicrafts. Until the age of 109, she maintained an active lifestyle, frequently going out with her daughter for lunches at a café, enjoying beer or sake during dinner, and tending to household chores throughout the day. At the age of 109, she moved into a nursing home following a fall and injury. Her consistent daily routine, which included her hobbies of dressmaking and housework, played a crucial role in preventing mental and physical decline. She was able to read until she was around 110 years old, and her hearing remains sharp at the age of 112.
Her age was validated by LongeviQuest on 21 September 2023.
