Marguerite Dromard was born in the commune of Cusset in the department of Allier, in the central French region of Auvergne, on 1 August 1909. In Cusset, she married Raoul Dromard on 27 April 1929, at the age of 19. The couple had two daughters, both born on 30 November: Geneviève in 1930 and Yvette in 1932.
Her husband passed away on 26 December 1976. Following his death, she continued living alone in her apartment at Les Darcins until the age of 102. During those years, she remained active, traveling extensively with friends on excursions organized by the association Loisirs Voyages avec Chiens Verts and engaging actively in local community life.
At 102, facing the challenges of living in a building without an elevator and with her daughter, then in her 80s, unable to assist after an accident, she made the decision to move into a retirement home. She relocated there on 12 May 2011. At the age of 108, despite her legs weakening and her hearing deteriorating, it was noted that she retained her sharp mind and full mental clarity.
Marguerite Dromard passed away in Cusset, on 2 October 2020, at the age of 111 years, 62 days.
Dromard’s age was verified by Guillaume Legris and Luc Le Lay (Les Grands Centenaires Français), and was validated by the ESO on 23 April 2020.
