Belia Engracia Cabezas Araya was a Costa Rican supercentenarian whose age is currently pending by the Latin American Supercentenarians (LAS).

BIOGRAPHY

Cabezas Araya was born in Ángeles de San Ramón, Alajuela, Costa Rica, on 30 August 1913, as the fifth daughter born to parents Eleodoro Cabezas Quesada and Amada Ester Araya Salas. Her paternal grandfather was José Gabriel Cabezas Alfaro (1815–1917), one of the founders of Ángeles de San Ramón, and a veteran of the Second Battle of Rivas.

Cabezas Araya never married nor had children.

Belia Engracia Cabezas Araya passed away in Ángeles de San Ramón, Alajuela, on 29 October 2024, at the age of 111 years, 60 days.

RECOGNITION

Her age was listed as a pending validation by the LAS as of 3 September 2022.

At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest (known) living person in Costa Rica, behind Marita Camacho Quirós.
