Celina Fernández Solórzano was born in the city of Alajuela, Costa Rica, on 22 January 1906 to Benjamín Fernández and María Luisa Solórzano.
In 1928, she married Francisco Antonio Pacheco Pérez (1901–1999). They had three children: Óscar (1929–2002), Maria Cecilia (1931–2014) and Francisco Antonio (born 1940, a lawyer and politician). She worked as a teacher.
Her sister-in-law, María Julia Pacheco Pérez (1910–2017), her husband’s sister, lived to be 106. [source]
On her 109th birthday in 2015, she was able to walk with the help of a walker. Her daughter, Cecilia, died two months prior to Celina’s 109th birthday. In February 2016 at the age of 110, she voted in the Costa Rican municipal elections. [source]
