Yvonne Berthe Edmée Bouton (née Schmidt) was a French supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).

BIOGRAPHY

Bouton was born as Yvonne Berthe Edmée Schmidt in Noël-Cerneux, Doubs department, on 24 June 1907. She worked for several organisations in Pagnoz, Jura department, before moving to a nursing home in Salins-les-Bains in her later years.

As a centenarian, Bouton was an independent person, wanting to do as much as possible by herself. She died on 31 August 2017 at the age of 110 years, 68 days.

RECOGNITION

Her successor as Bourgogne-Franche-Comté’s oldest resident was Madeleine Chat (1907 – 2020).

Bouton’s age was verified by Antoine Demarais, Laurent Toussaint, and Les Grands Centenaires Français, and was validated by the ESO on 23 February 2020.
