BIOGRAPHY

Yoshimi Tanaka was born in Kashima City, Saga Prefecture, Japan, on 9 August 1914. She spent most of her life in Saga Prefecture but moved to Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture, in 2017 to be closer to her third son.

From a young age, she showed a natural talent for drawing. Even after moving into a nursing home in October 2019, she continues to enjoy her hobby of coloring for about 20 minutes each day. Her daily routine includes watching the news to stay informed about global events and studying kanji. She attributes her longevity to “eating everything without being picky.” Her favorite foods include sushi, tempura, and champon.

Since 2021, she has been honored each September by the mayor of Kameoka City for her longevity.

RECOGNITION

In September 2024, she was reported as the sixth-oldest living person in Kyoto Prefecture, after Fuyo Kishimotoan anonymous ladyKiyo Ōhashi, Shigeyo Hata, and Ayako Kōseki.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and Yumi Yamamoto, and validated by LongeviQuest on 23 September 2024.
