BIOGRAPHY

Yoshi Terai was born in Japan on 9 January 1880.

Terai passed away of heart failure in Nawa (present-day Nawa, Daisen City), Tottori Prefecture, Japan, at 10:30 PM on 22 April 1991, at the age of 111 years, 103 days.

RECOGNITION

On 13 November 1983, following the death of 103-year-old Rio Takagi, she became the oldest living person in Tottori Prefecture, at the age of 103.

On 9 September 1986, at the age of 106 years, 243 days, she surpassed the final age of Haru Abe (1875–1981) of Yonago, becoming the oldest person ever from Tottori Prefecture. She held the record for 33 years, until Toshie Yasuda surpassed her final age on 13 February 2020.

In September 1987, she was reported as the 16th oldest-living person in Japan.

In January 1990, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming the first supercentenarian in Tottori Prefecture.
