Yoshi Otsunari [Japanese: 乙成ヨシ] was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest living person in Japan and the fourth-oldest living validated person in the world.

BIOGRAPHY

Yoshi Otsunari was born in Japan on 17 December 1906. Otsunari was also the last surviving Japanese person born in 1906.

Otsunari died in Omuta, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan on 26 January 2022 at the age of 115 years, 40 days. At the time of her death, she was the fourth-oldest validated living person in the world, behind Kane Tanaka, Lucile Randon, and Tekla Juniewicz.

RECOGNITION

She became the second-oldest living person in Japan (behind Kane Tanaka) following the death of Shigeyo Nakachi on 11 January 2021. On 27 July 2021, at the age of 114 years, 222 days, Otsunari surpassed the age of Yone Minagawa to become the second-oldest person ever from Fukuoka Prefecture, behind Kane Tanaka.
