BIOGRAPHY

Baron was born in Crainville, Williamson County, Illinois, USA, on 28 January 1908. She was the second of four children born to parents Albert Levi Poteete (1859–1940) and Mollie Greenrod (1872–1959). She grew up in a farming community near Carbondale. After graduating from Crainville High School, she became a surgical nurse at the Cook County School of Nursing.

On 24 October 1931, she married Mose Baron (1910–1993) in Kankakee. Following the marriage, the couple settled in Kankakee, where she worked for a state hospital. The couple had one son, Ronald Mose (1934–2017). Her husband passed away on 7 December 1993.

At the age of 108, she was still a fan of the Chicago Cubs (an American professional baseball team).

Baron passed away in Kankakee, Illinois, USA on 1 July 2018 at the age of 110 years, 154 days. She was survived by three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
