BIOGRAPHY

Veronika Zsilinszki was born in Kovin, Vojvodina, Serbia (then Austria-Hungary), on 4 February 1908, into an ethnic Hungarian family. As a child, she moved with her parents and two siblings from her birthplace to Baja, where they settled in the Szentistván district. In her youth, she was known for being sociable, with a love for dancing and conversation. However, she also found joy in gardening and reading. At some point, she had a son, and her family later grew to include a grandson and two great-grandchildren.

She tended a garden, visited the market, and remained active well past her 100th birthday—sweeping, weeding, and digging in front of her house when needed.

Even at 110, she stayed engaged with current events, reading the newspaper without glasses and listening to the radio. Prayer, attending mass, and reading the Bible were an integral part of her daily life.

Veronika Zsilinszki passed away in Baja, Bács-Kiskun County, Hungary, on 20 April 2021, at the age of 113 years, 75 days.

Her age is currently under review.
