Tsuru Takenaka [Japanese: 竹中ツル] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Yamaguchi Prefecture at the time of her death.

BIOGRAPHY

Tsuru Takenaka was born in Toyota Town (now part of Shimonoseki City), Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, on May 18, 1891.
She became the oldest living person in Yamaguchi Prefecture following the death of Shizuno Iwasaki of Shimonoseki City, who passed away at age 110 on December 4, 2001.

On February 6, 2002, Takenaka passed away of pneumonia in Toyota Town (now part of Shimonoseki City), Yamaguchi Prefecture, at the age of 110 years and 264 days. She had been living in a nursing home in the town.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
