Shizuno Iwasaki [Japanese: 岩崎シズノ] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Yamaguchi Prefecture at the time of her death.
Shizuno Iwasaki (岩崎シズノ) was born in Toyoura (now part of Shimonoseki City), Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, on February 1, 1891. She married in 1912 and had three children.
In 1976, at the age of 85, she moved into a nursing home.
At the age of 109, although her hearing had declined slightly, she was still physically strong—reportedly able to walk to the sink and wash her face by herself. Her favorite foods included fruits such as figs.
She passed away of natural causes at a nursing home in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, on December 3, 2001, at the age of 110 years and 305 days.
In accordance with her long-held wishes, her body was donated for anatomical examination at Yamaguchi University.
Following her death, Tsuru Takenaka of Toyoda Town became the oldest living person in the prefecture.
Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
