Tsune Katō (Japanese: 嘉藤ツ子) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Tsune Katō was born in Japan on 23 September 1899.

Katō lived in Hikawa, Shimane Prefecture, and every year since she turned 100, she received a congratulatory visit from the mayor at her home and a congratulatory letter. Katō passed away on August 3, 2010, in Hikawa-cho, Shimane Prefecture, Japan, at the age of 110 years and 314 days.

RECOGNITION

In September 2006, at the age of 107, she was the fourth-oldest person in Shimane Prefecture.

Following the death of 108-year-old Seitarō Imaoka (25 August 1899 – 18 March 2008) of Oda City, Katō became the oldest person in Shimane Prefecture, at the age of 108.

Upon her passing, Ei Nakagaki succeeded her as the oldest living resident of Shimane Prefecture.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 5 August 2024.
