Toshie Yorimitsu was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group.

BIOGRAPHY

Toshie Yorimitsu was born in Nankoku City, Kochi Prefecture on September 30, 1901, as the second of four children to father Ushiguro Tokuhashi and mother Umao.

Her older brother lived to be 97, her older sister to 108, and her younger brother to 96.

When she was 27, she moved to Naha, Okinawa with her husband Naoshige to start a hardware business. She lost one of her five children during the Second World War. After the war, she moved to Ishigaki Island and continued the hardware business.

After handing over her shop to her children, she ran a gun shop until she was around 80, and lived alone until she was 100.

Yorimitsu was died in Okinawa prefecture at the age of 114 years, 151 days.

RECOGNITION

At the time of her death, she was the third-oldest living person in Japan and the sixth-oldest validated living person in the world.
