Sue Yamada [Japanese: 山田すへ] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Nagano Prefecture at the time of her death.
Sue Yamada (山田すへ) was born in Akashina Town (now part of Azumino City), Nagano Prefecture, Japan, on June 5, 1895.
At the age of 22, she married a carpenter, moved to Ōmachi City, and went on to have eight children. She worked at a paper manufacturing company and became a widow in her early 50s.
She later relocated to Matsukawa Village to live with her eldest son’s family. In 2000, at the age of 105, she moved into a nursing home in Ōmachi City.
At the age of 110, she had 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
In October 2005, she was hospitalized due to declining health. On March 5, 2006, she passed away of natural causes at a hospital in Ōmachi City, Nagano Prefecture, at the age of 110 years and 273 days. Although her place of death was Ōmachi City, her official residence was registered in Matsukawa Village.
At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Nagano Prefecture. Following her death, Yuki Hasegawa of Ueda City became the oldest living person in the prefecture.
Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 13 October 2005 and later recognized by LongeviQuest.
