BIOGRAPHY

Shizue Nagata was born in Japan on 25 July 1903.

In September 2015, Nagata was reported as the second-oldest living resident of Kumamoto Prefecture, behind Masa Iseri.

On her 112th birthday in 2015, it was reported that Nagata had a very good appetite; she was interested in a lot of different subjects and was very excited each year of the summer festivals. She went for the first time to a nursing home shortly before her 112th birthday.

Nagata died in Yamaga, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan on 12 April 2017 at the age of 113 years, 261 days.

RECOGNITION

She became the oldest known living resident in Kumamoto Prefecture, following the death of 113-year-old Masa Iseri on 5 March 2016.
