Shin Shioya (Japanese: 塩谷しん) is a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.
BIOGRAPHY
Shin Shioya (塩谷しん) was born on 15 May 1916 in Ikadaba, Kamiōmi Village (present-day Izu City), Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, to a family of wasabi and rice farmers. She later married a construction contractor from the same village. Alongside farming, she looked after her husband and his apprentice carpenters.
Shioya remained active in household chores until around the age of 100. She entered a nursing home at the age of 102 and was reportedly still able to walk with a walker until around the age of 108.
On her 110th birthday, 15 May 2026, a celebration was held for her at the nursing home. At the age of 110, she was still able to finish all of her meals independently and could stand for short periods with assistance.
In an interview with the Izu Shimbun, her family credited her longevity to the fact that she had always been a hard worker and had remained active since her youth.
RECOGNITION
She is currently the oldest living resident of Izu City.
Her age was verified by Izu City, Ryohei Asano and Yumi Yamamoto, and validated by LongeviQuest on 9 July 2026.
