RECOGNITION

Following the passing of 112-year-old Riyō Fujihira in February 2013, she became the oldest known living person in Chiba Prefecture. Upon her own passing in July 2017, she was succeeded by Mine Suzuki.

Her age was verified by the MHLW, Japan, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 27 August 2015. The validation was later recognized by LongeviQuest.

On 9 January 2017, at the age of 112 years, 363 days, she surpassed the final age of Kō Iijima (1896–2009), becoming the oldest person ever to have lived in Chiba Prefecture. She held the title until April or May 2026, when an anonymous lady from Kimitsu surpassed her final age.
