BIOGRAPHY

Ruby Wilson was born in Atlantic, Iowa, USA, on 22 August 1884. Her parents were John M. Gingery (1837–1919) and Mary A. Hyatt (1848–1931). She had six siblings: Elsie Findley (1867–1960), Leslie Meritt (1877–1972), Lewis Francis (1879–1976), John Stewart (1882–1963), Grover Gordon (1887–1972), and Pearle Hadley (1890–1994). Three of her siblings died in their 90s, while the younger died at age 104.

At some point, she married Frederick William “Fred” Wilson (1881–1969). The couple had four children: Marie Pearl Fruin (1906–1977),, Geraldine Cleo Sanders (1908–1997), Jack Wayne Wilson (1909–2005), and Bill Kenneth Wilson (1917–2008). They moved to Rockford in 1917, where they farmed for several years. The couple had been married for over 60 years when her husband passed away in 1969.

One of her favorite topics of conversation was horses. She once had a horse named Peaches, whose colt she affectionately named Cream. By the age of 107, she had four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Ruby Wilson passed away in Spokane Valley, Washington, on 17 May 1995, at the age of 110 years, 268 days.
